How many hives should I start with?
One or two. A single hive teaches you almost everything about your site and your own routine before you commit more time or money — see How to start beekeeping.
Will the bees be too aggressive to manage?
The African honeybee defends its colony more readily than European subspecies, but calm handling, proper smoke and correct protective gear make regular inspections safe — see Handling equipment & safety.
Which hive type should I build first?

How do I know honey is ready to harvest?
Wait until at least 80–90% of a comb’s cells are capped with wax, and a gentle shake shouldn’t drip. See Harvesting honey.
Why did my honey ferment after bottling?
Almost always harvested before it was fully ripe. Ripe honey holds around 17–20% moisture; anything wetter ferments in storage. See Producing high-quality honey.
Do I need to register with the Honeybee Cooperative to use this platform?
Yes — apiaries, hives, inspections, harvests and sales are all tracked per member. Ask an existing cooperative admin to add you, or contact the cooperative directly.
